The Nyíregyháza Open 2026 took place in an excellent atmosphere with a strong international field, bringing spectacular competitions to the Nyíregyháza Athletics Center over two days. The prestigious indoor competition once again proved that the facility is an ideal venue for both domestic and international athletics, offering high-quality modern infrastructure and services tailored to athletes.

January 24 - a strong start and international victories

On the first day of competition, Dominik Illovszky (BHSE) won the men's 60 meters (6.58), while Zoltán Wahl (TSC-Geotech) won the 200 meters finished first in the 200 meters with a time of 21.42, Csahóczi Csanád (UTE) finished first in the 300 meters with a time of 34.04, and Plisz Balázs (TSC-Geotech) finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 47.32. In the middle distances, János Kubasi (SVSE) ran 1:50.42 in the 800 meters, Dávid Pap (UTE) ran 3:55.34 in the 1500 meters, while the 3000 meters was won by Romania's Ștefan Lucian Florin with a time of 8:19.02.

In the jumping and throwing events, Mátyás Guth (DSC-SI) won the high jump with 2.00 meters, Sámuel Hodossy-Takács (DSC-SI) won the long jump with 7.31 meters, while István Fekete (SZVSE) proved to be the best in the shot put with a result of 18.00 meters.

In the women's field, Anna Bognár (BHSE) won the 60 meters with a time of 7.55, the 200 meters was won by Slovenian Joni Tomičič Prezelj (24.59), the 400 meters by Romanian Balint Ștefania (55.44), the 800 meters by Kristina Daniela Bálan (SVSE) (2:09.36) in the 400 meters, and Mihaela Maria Blaga (ROU) (9:25.61) in the 3000 meters. It was a special treat for the home crowd when Nyíregyháza Sportcentrum athlete K. Szabó Gabriella won the women's 1500 meters with a time of 4:29.41.

February 7 - outstanding results and double winners

The second day of competition brought similarly high-quality races. Apor Jakab (FTC) won the men's 60 meters with a time of 6.79, while Zoltán Wahl won again in the 200 meters (21.38), and Balázs Plisz proved to be the best in the 400 meters with a time of 46.81. The 800 meters was won by Romania's Voicu Cristian-Gabriel (1:50.04), the 1500 meters by Szinte Bálint (UTE) (3:48.22), and the 3000 meters once again by Ștefan Lucian Florin (8:15.44).

In the technical events, Gergely Török (DSC-SI) won the high jump with 2.15 meters, Sámuel Hodossy-Takács won the long jump again with 7.36 meters, while István Fekete improved his winning result in the shot put to 18.19 meters. In the women's events, Anna Bognár (BHSE) won the 60 meters with a time of 7.52, Alexa Sulyán (MATE-GEAC) won the 200 meters (24.01), Sára Mátó (MATE-GEAC) won the 400 meters (54.12), Kincső Panna Keller (A-Plast Ikarus BSE) won the 800 meters (2:15.15), Kristina Daniela Bálan (SVSE) (4:28.35), and in the 3000 meters, Croatian Marodi Lea (9:28.68) finished in first place. In the shot put, Beregszászi Renáta (SZVSE) triumphed with a throw of 17.10 meters.

In the junior competitions, Nyíregyháza fans will be particularly pleased to note that Gergő Károly Oláh (NYSC) took the podium in the U18 men's shot put with a throw of 14.03 meters.

An excellent venue for competitions and training camps

The Nyíregyháza Open once again demonstrated that the Nyíregyháza Athletics Centre is one of the most modern athletics facilities in the region, ideal for hosting prestigious competitions as well as organizing training camps. The NYAC Hotel, which is part of the complex, with its own kitchen, gym and recreation rooms, provides a full range of services for athletes, including special diets, airport transfers and sightseeing programs upon request.

The outstanding results of the two competition days, the participation of international competitors and the domestic successes once again confirmed that the Nyíregyháza Open is one of the most important Central European competitions of the indoor athletics season, welcoming athletes and fans with increasingly high standards every year.
