During the spring semester of the 2025–2026 school year, the Nyíregyháza Athletics Center will once again come alive as it hosts the county student athletics championships over the course of several weeks. The individual, combined events, and relay races announced for various age groups aim to provide students with competitive opportunities and determine the county championship titles.
The competition series begins in April
The program begins on April 22–23, 2026, with individual competitions for students in age groups V–VI. Over the two days, a wide range of classic track and field events will be featured: sprints, hurdles, jumping and throwing events, as well as relays are all on the program.
Continuing in early May
The next stop is May 6, 2026, when the individual competitions for students in age groups III–IV will be held. Here, even the younger age groups will have the chance to showcase their skills in running, jumping, and throwing events, as well as relay races.
Combined Events Week
The middle of May is all about combined events:
May 13, 2026 – Age Group II: Individual and Team Combined Events
May 14, 2026 – Age Group IV: Individual and Team Combined Events
May 15, 2026 – Age Group III Combined Events (Individual and Team)
On these days, students will compete in combined events (combinations of running, jumping, and throwing) to test their skills, both as teams and individually.
The competition for elementary schools wraps up the series
The competition series concludes with the county finals for elementary schools:
May 21, 2026 – Age Groups I–IV: Individual and Team Multi-Event Competition
This competition is special in several ways: here, students can compete in combined age groups and mixed-team compositions, and basic athletic movements such as short-distance running, long jump, and small ball throw are prominently featured.
How are the competitions related to each other?
The two competition announcements are closely aligned but target different age groups:
The competitions in mid-April–mid-May (individual and combined events finals) primarily provide competition opportunities for the older age groups (grades 3–6).
The competition for younger students on May 21 focuses more on the lower grades, though it partially overlaps with the Grade 3–4 age group.
The dates build on one another: the competitions for the older students take place first, and then the series concludes with a separate event that shares a similar theme.
A common feature of both event series is that they are based on the fundamental disciplines of track and field and provide students with the opportunity to develop multifaceted motor skills and experience the thrill of competition.
Registration Information
Registration for the competitions is available exclusively online through the MDSZ system, and must be completed by the specified deadlines. On-site registration is not available for any of the events.
