On February 7, the Nyíregyháza Athletics Center will once again be in the spotlight, as top athletes from several European countries will compete against each other on the second day of the Nyíregyháza Open 2026.

More than 600 entries have been received, with the best athletes from Cyprus, North Macedonia, Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary taking to the track to compete not only for victory but also for valuable world ranking points. The program promises to be a real test of strength, where speed, endurance, and technical skill will all play a key role.

In the men's sprint events, Roiban Cristian Nicusor (ROU - 6.73) is one of the favorites in the 60-meter dash, while Zoltán Wahl (TSC - Geotech - 21.28) will test his explosiveness in the 200-meter dash. The longer distances will also be exciting: in the 400 meters, Plisz Balázs (TSC - Geotech - 47.32), Dániel Gellért Huller (VSD - 1:49.74) in the 800 meters, Bálint Szinte (UTE - 3:46.70) in the 1500 meters, and Csongor Lehmann (Tiszaújvárosi TK - 8:17.22) in the 3000 meters will set the pace. In the women's field, Alexa Sulyán (MATE - GEAC - 7.41 / 23.38) stands out in the sprint events at 60 and 200 meters, while the middle and long distances, as well as the hurdles and technical events, are centered around Janka Molnár (TSC-Geotech - 53.00). In the long jump, triple jump and shot put, Lili Enyedi (Miskolci Sportiskola - 5.90) already deserves serious attention despite her young age.

The domestic club will play a prominent role, as athletes from the Nyíregyháza Sports Center will be represented in almost every event, and the encouragement from the stands will give them extra momentum.

László Losonczi and Gergő Szarka will compete in the men's 60 meters, while Gyula Török will set the pace in the 400 meters. In the endurance events, Zoltán Sámuel Papp is preparing for the 1500 meters, while Tamás Kéki and Zsolt Szilágyi will be running the 3000 meters. In the technical events, Ádám Zajácz will take on the high jump, Ádám Jenei will leap into the sand pit in the triple jump, and Patrik Ernő Csíkos will flex his muscles in the shot put.

In the women's events, a real NYSC sprint team will line up for the 60 meters: Edina Bálint, Laura Emma Dezső, Szofia Hell, Petra Jenei, Lili Anita Kovács, and Luca Rita Török will measure their speed against the field. In the 200-meter race, they will be joined by Anna Borszéki, Márta Kertész and Boglárka Szabó will also join them.

In the 400 meters, the home crowd will be able to cheer on two Kovács athletes, as Alíz Kovács and Lili Anita Kovács will be competing, while in the 800 meters, Alíz Kovács will be joining Noémi Major and Flóra Tilki in the middle-distance races. In the long jump, Zorka Judit Hegedűs and Nóra Kerezsi will be competing, while in the triple jump, Dr. Bettina Abiwu will be joining Zorka in trying to leave as big a mark as possible in the sand. In the women's shot put, Erika Hanász will be representing the Nyíregyháza Sports Center in the throwing circle.

The NYSC line-up is also complete in the younger age group: in the boys' field, Bence Dajnics, Péter Tompa and Nimród Várnagy will compete with the 6 kg weight, while Dániel Zsombor Bálint, Gergely Huba, Rajmond Kovács, Zoltán Pál László, and Gergő Károly Oláh will compete with the 5 kg shot.
