The decades-old tradition will not be broken, this year there will be another OTP Bank Santa Claus Run. The event will be organized by the Nyíregyháza Sports Centre on Saturday, 2 December, at the Athletics Centre.
- Although it was cancelled last year, this event has a long history, which is mainly for children and families and is popular among Nyíregyháza residents," said Richárd Kőhalmi, CEO of the Nyíregyháza Sports Centre Nonprofit Ltd. in his welcome speech at the press conference on Wednesday.
The event has been supported by OTP Bank for years.
- We were happy to support the initiative because it fits into our social engagement programme to be associated with such an event," said Péter Dankó, OTP Bank's Corporate Relationship Manager, who also mentioned that such an event preserves traditions and brings people together. He added that he was confident that, as in previous years, thousands of people would participate.
Families are welcome from 9 a.m., but the new feature is that everyone must register on arrival and will receive a wristband.
- We ask everyone to arrive on time if possible, our colleagues will be continuously registering, and with the wristband you can win valuable prizes in the raffle draw - said László Dajka, the main organiser.
As for the race, after a joint warm-up, there will be 400 metres in different age groups on the outdoor rec track, and in case of bad weather the race will move to the Athletics Centre building. There will also be toddler, school and family races, the latter with hand holding. The top three finishers in each age group will be awarded a trophy, but each finisher will receive an individual medal.
In addition to the many surprises, the Santa Claus Express will be running continuously on the outdoor reconnaissance track throughout the event and the Jolly Elves band will also be performing.
The event, which starts at 10 am, is a great time for children and adults alike.
