Two gold, one silver and one bronze on the opening day 

Róbert Szikszai and Bence Boros became Hungarian champions, Dóra Kerekes won the silver medal and Petra Nyisztor finished third. 

The two-day 128th Hungarian Athletics Championships started in Budapest on Friday afternoon. Already the first day started well for the athletes of the Nyíregyháza Sportcentrum. In the women's discus throw, the champions were announced for the first time in the new National Athletics Centre.  Anita Márton won the competition with a season's best of 54.73, followed by Dóra Kerekes of the Nyíregyháza Sportcentrum, who came second with 53.18 and Krisztina Váradi third with 45.34. Erika Hanász of Sportcentrum finished 10th with 33.59. 

The men's discus throw was won by Róbert Szikszai of Nyíregyháza Sportcentrum with 59.59, ahead of János Huszák (55.79) and Márton Csontos (54.31). János Káplár of Nyíregyháza was fourth with 54.29. 

Nyíregyháza won the bronze medal in the women's triple jump. Petra Nyisztor took third place with 12.56. Dr. Abiwu Türk Bettina finished eighth in the same event. 

In the women's 1500 m event, Gabriella K.Szabó of Nyíregyháza Sportcentrum was the starter, but in a tight field she just missed the podium, finishing fourth in 4:29.63. 

In the men's high jump event, Péter Bakosi competed for Nyíregyháza, whose jump of 2.12 metres was good enough for fourth place. 

To close the day, the men's 100 metres was crowned champion. Bence Boros had already run a great race in the heats and it was no different in the evening final, where he took the top step of the podium with a time of 10.50.
