On 4-5 July, Hungary will host another prestigious international sporting event: the Nyíregyháza Athletics Centre will host the Olympic Weightlifting Hopes Competition, where the best of the Visegrad Four will test their strength and technique in the U18 and U23 age groups.
The event is hosted by the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation and organised by the Nyíregyháza Vasutas Sport Club.
Nearly 88 young athletes will compete on the podium, fighting not only to qualify for the national championships but also to one day compete on the biggest stage, the Olympics.
A special feature of the event, a joint venture of the Visegrad 4 (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic), is that participants compete not for individual placings but for points for their country's team. Over the two days, you can experience first-hand how weightlifting is transformed from an individual sport into a true team sport, where solidarity, cheering and common goals bring competitors together.
The Nyíregyháza Athletics Centre, which is hosting the event, offers athletes and spectators a unique preparation, modern infrastructure and technical background in Europe, providing all the conditions for a worthy staging of such a high-level international competition.
