Another starlet is about to be born in Nyíregyháza. Olympic and World Championship medallist Anita Márton is preparing for the continental tournament at the Athletics Centre. The athlete is confident that she will also perform well at the World Championships in her home country.
NYSÜ Kft. and the management of the athletics department of the Nyíregyháza Sports Centre have made a small gift to Anita Márton. The world indoor champion, outdoor silver medallist and Olympic bronze medallist weightlifter celebrated her birthday at the weekend. The athlete had already been training in the Sabolsk county seat in December and is now back in Nyíregyháza.
- I really like it here. In the Athletics Centre, all conditions are provided, we can work in great conditions. It's no secret that since the birth of my daughter, I prefer to train here rather than travelling to another country. Now I am preparing for the European Indoor Championships, where I would like to achieve a good result - said Anita Márton.
The weightlifter also wants to participate in the World Championships in her home country this summer. For the Hungarian athletes, this will be the main event this year, where we hope to be able to cheer on more athletes from Nyíregyháza. Róbert Szikszai will be travelling to a training camp this week with his coach László Kerekes, while Balázs Tóth will be competing in the competition at the Athletics Centre on Saturday. The facility is also very popular with athletes from abroad.
- Athletes from Slovenia are coming to the weekend's competition, but Romanian, Czech and Slovak athletes also train here regularly. We have a full house, which is understandable, as we also have a three-star hotel and we can cater for the special dietary needs of the competitors," said Gusztáv Hajnal, Managing Director of NYSÜ Ltd.
In two weeks' time, another athletics competition will be held in Nyíregyháza on Saturday, and the indoor national championships will be held here on 18-19 February.
