One of the most popular and oldest traditions of Nyíregyháza, the Santa Claus Run, was a great success again this year. The event, which was held for the 33rd time, welcomed children and families eager to play sports on Saturday morning at the Athletics Centre.
More than a thousand people attended the event, which offered a colourful programme of activities and special experiences, including photos.
Fairytale characters and a warm-up with Santa Claus
Before the run, the children had a joint warm-up session led by fairy-tale characters, moving the little ones through the run in a playful way. The excitement reached its peak when Santa Claus arrived, who not only accompanied the run but also made everyone smile with his presence.
Four categories, lots of winners
There were four different categories to compete in. First, the kindergarteners ran the 400 m, followed by the juniors, the seniors and finally the families. All participants received a medal and the best finishers went home with a trophy.
Raffle and Santa Claus Express
After the race, participants were entered into a raffle draw to win valuable gifts. In addition, the Santa Claus Express was a very popular attraction, which ran around the Athletics Centre's courtyard throughout the event, providing a special experience for children and their parents.
Once again, the Santa Claus Run proved that sport and community experiences can bring people together perfectly, and we are already looking forward to the 34th edition!
