This fall, Nyíregyháza will once again host one of the most spectacular events of the Student Olympics, the national finals of the Athletics Skills and Relay Team Championships.

The competition was announced by the Hungarian Student Sports Association with the professional support of the Hungarian Athletics Association, while the organization is being handled by the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Student Sports and Leisure Association.

Dates and age groups:

  • October 11, 2025 (Saturday) – Age groups V–VI (students born between 2006 and 2010)
  • October 12, 2025 (Sunday) – Age groups III–IV (students born between 2011 and 2014)

Location: Nyíregyháza, Athletics Center

The aim of the championship is to provide young athletes with an opportunity to compete, strengthen sports friendships, promote skill events, and select the best school teams in the country.

Competition events

Students compete in various skill events and relay races:

  • Skill events: high jump, long jump, shot put, small ball throw, discus throw, javelin throw
  • Relays: 10×200 m mixed relay, 4×800 m (girls), 4×1500 m (boys), Swedish relay (100–200–300–400 m)

Teams consist of 5 members, with the final result determined by the four strongest performances.

Qualification and awards

The best teams from the county and Budapest competitions qualified for the national finals. Eight teams were invited to compete in the high jump, 12 in the other skill events, and 16 in the relay.

The best teams will take home medals, but competing among Hungary's best student athletes is a real experience for all participants.

Nyíregyháza will once again be a worthy host for an event where a love of sport, competitive spirit and youthful enthusiasm come together.
