On Saturday the 49th Hungarian Indoor Athletics Championships started in Nyíregyháza. Two of Sportcentrum's competitors defended their titles on the first day!
Péter Bakosi had been struggling with illness all week, but the high jumper didn't want to miss the championship. He cleared all heights up to 219 cm and became champion!
In the weight throw Balázs Tóth took the lead with 17.82 in the second set. László Kovács came within a centimetre of him, but in the fifth round the Nyíregyháza athlete secured his first place with a new personal best of 17.97 and won the gold medal!
The championships will continue on Sunday afternoon at the Athletics Centre.
