On 8-9 June, the Nyíregyháza Athletics Centre will host the second round of the U16 and U14 Regional League Tournament.
On behalf of the Hungarian Athletics Federation, the Nyíregyháza Sportcentrum Np. Ltd., aims to promote athletics and to expand the opportunities for young talents to prepare and compete.
The event will bring together athletes from different counties of the Eastern Region (Békés, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Csongrád, Hajdú-Bihar, Heves, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, the left-coast settlements of Pest, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg). This competition is particularly important for the U16 age group, as it offers the opportunity to qualify for the outdoor individual championships.
More than 700 entries were registered for the competition, 110 of which came from athletes from the host Nyíregyháza Sports Centre. The event also included 69 adult competitors, 21 of whom also represent the local club.
For the U14 age group, both boys and girls will compete in a number of events, such as 80 m, 300 m, 600 m, 2000 m, 60 m hurdles, 200 m hurdles, 1000 m hurdles, 3000 m walking, high jump, pole vault, long jump, pentathlon, weight throw, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw and the whistle throw.
The events for the U16 age group include the 100 m, 300 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 3000 m, 100 m hurdles, 300 m hurdles, 1500 m steeplechase, 5000 m walking, high jump, pole vault, long jump, pentathlon, weight throw, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw and the whistle throw, which will be held exclusively at the regional league competitions.
Medals will be awarded to the top finishers in the competition, and the 1st-3rd place finishers will be proud to wear their medals for their achievements. The event is an exciting programme not only for the competitors but also for spectators, who will be able to see the best of the sport's young talented athletes who could be the champions of the future.
