The Nyíregyháza Athletics Centre hosted the International Weightlifting Tournament, where young athletes from the Visegrád Four countries - Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic - competed against each other.
The event was attended by nearly 60 weightlifters aged 13-17, for whom the tournament was an important step towards acquiring an international competitive routine and setting them on the path to their Olympic ambitions.
The Nyíregyháza Vasutas Sport Club (NYVSC), the leading Hungarian weightlifting club, played a key role in organising and running the event. The Hungarian competitors achieved several good results, with several of them standing on the top step of the podium. The event was characterised by a good atmosphere and good sportsmanship.
