The Move Nyíregyháza! programme has entered its 11th year, launched in 2013 with the support of Mayor Dr. Ferenc Kovács. Its aim is to provide free exercise for the city's residents, which has become more popular every year.
The Continental Arena, the Municipal Swimming Pool, the Nyíregyháza Athletic Centre, school gyms and parks will also provide venues for the series of events. The success of the programme will be enhanced by fitness events, where nationally renowned trainers will hold classes. Its own website, mozduljnyiregyhaza.hu, offers detailed information and is constantly updated.
The new season of the Move Nyíregyháza! programme will start in September, with many new features and an expanded exercise programme. Residents of the city can take part in 59 different sessions, including back exercises, stress-relieving yoga, Nordic walking, kid's tennis, mediball and gymstick. The new season will also see the construction of a new Leisure Sports Centre in the Municipal Stadium, which will host a range of events, including artificial pitches, a recurve running track, beach volleyball and streetball courts, and a fitness park. A new feature is the Medical Fitness programme, run by specialised instructors for the prevention and rehabilitation of illnesses, available free of charge with a recommendation from your GP. Several of the classes are subject to registration due to capacity restrictions. The programme will also host well-known trainers Attila Katus and Réka Rubint for free classes. The stadium's recreational facilities are also designed to allow families to play sport together: while dads play football, mums can run and children can enjoy an activity corner.
