The 49th Hungarian Indoor Athletics Championships are next!  After last year's successful event, athletes will compete again in Nyíregyháza on 18 and 19 February.

The Nyírség athletics centre is a training camp where the competitors have already spent several days, so they will be no strangers to the environment. And thanks to the hundreds of seats in the grandstand, it will be a real family event for young and old alike.

The audience will see, among others, weightlifter Anita Márton, the first and so far only world champion in Hungarian athletics. The men's 60 m hurdles could be an exciting competition, as Bálint Szeles and Dániel Eszes will also compete against Valdo Szűcs, who is training overseas.

István Szögi, who broke the Hungarian indoor 1-mile record at the silver in Ostrava, will test his skills in the 1500m with István Palkovits, who will prove his worth after the training camp in Kenya.

In the women's 60 m hurdles, Luca Kozák, the national record holder (7.92), Gréta Kerekes, who is in good form, and the young talent, the U20 World Championships 3rd place winner Anna Tóth will also be at the start.

Dominik Illovszky is already a sure bet for the European Indoor Championships in the 60m, hoping to win the title.

Surprise results are always in the cards, so a national best could be in danger.

Among others, Hanga Klekner will attempt to break the Hungarian indoor pole vault record, currently 451 cm.

The records include some from the 90s and 2000s, so it will be worth watching the results and cheering on our athletes!
