During the 2026 indoor track and field season, the Nyíregyháza Athletics Center once again proved itself to be one of the key venues in Hungarian sports. The competitions held between January and March were of significant international importance and served as a crucial preparation stage for several World Championship competitors.

Several members of the Hungarian national team competed in the Nyíregyháza events, later representing our country at the World Indoor Championships.

Outstanding Results and a Strong Field

Numerous outstanding results were achieved during the Indoor National Championships and the Nyíregyháza Open. Sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, and throwers all delivered high-level performances, with several personal bests and season-best results.

Dominik Illovszky’s performance in the 60-meter dash, Attila Molnár’s personal best in the 200-meter dash, and Luca Kozák’s confident hurdling all indicate that the competitions provided a true competitive environment ahead of the World Championships.

Nyíregyháza’s Role in Preparation

In recent years, the Nyíregyháza Athletics Center has played an increasingly important role in Hungarian athletics. Through World Ranking-eligible competitions and national championships, athletes can prepare for major international events in high-quality conditions and against strong competition.

The 2026 season once again demonstrated that Nyíregyháza is not merely a competition venue, but also a key stop on the road to the World Championships.
