On 8 and 15 February, the Athletics Centre of Nyíregyháza hosted the Slovak Indoor Track and Field Championships, organised by the Slovak Athletics Federation. On the two days, adult and junior athletes competed in different events.

The competitions and results

On 8 February, the adult athletes competed, while a week later, on 15 February, the junior athletes competed. The championships included a number of events, including the 60 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 3000 m flat race, 4x200 m relay, weight throw, long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault and 60 m hurdles.

The most successful competitors

Adult category (8 February):

One of the standout competitors in the 60m hurdles was Simon Kubaška (AK ŠK UMB Banská Bystrica), who finished in 8.19 seconds.

Junior category (15 February):

Ema Vyšňanová (AC Construction Nyitra) stood out in the pole vault, winning the competition with a distance of 260 cm.

Once again, the Nyíregyháza Athletics Centre proved to be an excellent venue and the standard of the championships reflected the development of Slovak athletics. The event provided exciting moments not only for the competitors but also for the spectators and certainly contributed to the promotion of the sport.
